Rehearsal pianist - Helena Twentyman
Helena learnt the piano and violin from an early age and was Head Chorister in her local church for many years. She studied the piano with Richard Greenwood as a Junior Exhibitioner at the Royal College of Music and went on to read music at the University of Bristol, taking both academic and practical courses and continuing her piano training with Kenneth Mobbs. While there she was soloist in a performance of Shostakovich’s Second Piano Concerto. She led the second violin section of Dorking Chamber Orchestra for many years and also performed several piano concertos under conductor Colin Gray.
She has much experience of accompanying choirs, dramatic groups, singers and instrumentalists, and became the accompanist of Blackheath and Bramley Choral Society in 1995.
Helena continues to have an active and varied musical career, combining accompanying work with teaching the piano, directing choirs including the Ladybirds Choir and the choir of St Paul’s Church in Dorking and making song and hymn arrangements. She sings with the Martineau Singers and often conducts their concerts.
2021 Events Calendar
Our programme for the year has had to be completely changed.
Our spring concert was delayed until July and was a true celebration that we had managed to keep going as a choir.
3 choral workshops were held at the beautiful Peper Harow Church in August.
Rehearsals began again this term on Monday evenings in preparation for a double bill Haydn concert on 27th November.
